Viktor Blom, known as the online poker phenom Isildur1, was invited to have a talk with Aftonbladet.se, the largest newspaper in Sweden, his home country.

In the interview, he said that he grew up in a small Swedish town with his parents and three siblings. He took up sports like football or tennis but according to him, "it was just for fun, I never had any talents for sports."

According to the interview, Viktor started playing poker when he was just 14 years old, after watching a Swedish TV show called "PokerMiljonen". The rest, as they say, was history.
From $2,000 to $2,000,000 in just a few weeks
When asked about his poker skill, he simply said "I have always been successful, but I knew that I could be really good when I was 18," referring to a very impressive achievement: in just a few weeks, he managed to increase his bankroll from $2,000 to around $2,000,000.
"That was the beginning of it all," said Viktor. "I started playing on the US friendly poker rooms and I was surprised just how good everyone was." However, he wasn't discouraged by that: "I liked the fact that I never had to wait to get some action (I hate that) and I tried to be the last one leaving the table."
That's what the man behind the Isildur1 nickname said in regards to his poker skills. "I always have that in the back of my mind," said Blom when asked about this claim. "
Of course it's tough sometimes, but it doesn't count in the long run. It's just money and that isn't everything in the world for me. I play because it's so fun, I really love the game," he added.
Viktor Blom was involved in all 10 largest online pots ever, which is why some of his opponents called him crazy because of his aggressive style. "It's just the way I play," he said with a laugh. "I don't think I'm crazy."
The largest ever pot was worth $1,356,947 and he lost it to Finnish poker pro Patrik Antonius.
He said: "That hand was sick. I was watching the screen through my fingers when the cards came and at first I thought I had won. Then I realised I lost and that was pretty hard to take for the moment. But you know, things like these happen, you win some, you lose some."

I'm not really a Lord of the Rings fan Since his nickname is taken from the famous novel and movie series Lord of the Rings, many would think he's a fan. Blom admitted: "Not really. It was just the name that popped up in my head when I created my account. I must have seen the movie recently at that time. The name doesn't mean anything special to me," he laughs.
